Sabbatical period for missionaries
Programme
1. Friar missionaries are welcome in the "Our Lady of the Nations" fraternity in Brussels, from the end of September. They will participate in the life of the community.
NB : Please inform the fraternity before the end of August of your intention to participate in the program.
2. The permanent community offers the missionaries a fraternal environment where they have the opportunity to find a listening ear, to share their personal experiences of mission, to share the Word and to participate in the prayer of the community.
3. During the first three months, the missionaries can attend continuing education courses (in English or French) at the "Lumen Vitae" (from 2 October to 21 December).
NB : It is necessary to send the registration form before arriving and to come with a three-month tourist VISA.
4. The weekends are dedicated to pastoral contacts with the Christian communities from various cultures located in Brussels.
5. The missionaries are invited to remain one more month (January) in order to:
* explore the Franciscan vision of mission through the reading of Franciscan texts (the writings of St. Francis and documents of the Order) and the sharing of their reflections on them;
* deepen their understanding of their personal experience in mission with the perspective of beginning a new stage in their missionary involvement;
* renew their comprehension of the present situation of globalization, of North-South relations, of humanitarian and charitable aid, etc., by means of meetings with some of the more important organizations (Caritas, Pax Christi, NGOs, European Institutions...).
