The preparation of young lay people for the missions

In collaboration with Youth-Missions of Brussels, the Fraternity "Notre Dame des Nations" began a project of preparing young students and workers who wish to go and discover another continent. It is proposed that these young people share daily life with the people of another culture, learn to receive and to give, collaborate in certain local initiatives and help out in the activities of a mission. A country and a Community in Africa that will receive and accompany him is proposed to each one. At the moment there are five young Belgian candidates ­ three women and two men ­ who are destined for Burundi, Rwanda, Mozambique and maybe Mo-rocco, to Communities that have already expressed their disposition to receive them and fol-low them up. Before leaving, the young people pass a few week-ends in the Fraternity of Brussels in order to examine their motivations and the spirit of this experience and to prepare themselves psychologically and spiritually to leave (even though for a short time only) their families and culture and to open up to another and to take on an attitude of listening, respect, availability and collaboration.
