VATICAN CITY ­ at 9.30 this morning, Sunday 30th September 2001, the Holy Father Pope John Paul II presided an Eucharistic Celebration at St. Peter's Basilica as an opening of the tenth General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops which will be celebrated in the Synod Hall at the Vatican up till 27th October 2001. The theme chosen is Episcopus Minister Evangelii Iesu Christi propter Spem Mundi. Together with the Holy Father there were all the Synod members and collaborators (55 Cardinals, 7 Patriarchs, 70 Archbishops, 106 Bishops, 10 Presbyters, 5 Auditors ad 15 Collaborators). Among them there was the our Minister General Fr. Giacomo Bini who was nominated as member of the Synod by letter of the General Secretary Card. Jan P. Schotte (24.08.2001 ­ Prot 01204).
