 MISSION

OUR MISSIONARY PROJECT

* The first aim of the Franciscan Mission is the "implantatio Ordinis", which accompanies or follows the "implantatio Ecclesiae". The Friar Minor spreads the Franciscan charism and forms native Friars in order to initiate or consolidate the Franciscan presence according to the needs and forms of the different cultures or as a gift from the Spirit to the local Churches.

* The fraternities "in mission" are inculturated and seek the language, style and form of life that are most convenient to a particular culture, always remaining faithful to the fundamental values of our charism.

* The fraternity has priority over activities. A community is Franciscan when it lives and radiates fraternity, showing through life that people can live together, in communion and unity, even when they are different.

* The missionary fraternities are international and multi-cultural, thus becoming signs of tolerance, of respect for others, of true reconciliation and of peace.

* The Friars Minor dwell and live with the people, in order to listen to their needs and to share in their condition of life.

* The Friars "in mission" are at the service of the local Church, into whose pastoral project they are inserted and to which they offer full collaboration.

* New Franciscan presences are given new and flexible structures, such as simple houses and itinerant activities.

* The Friars Minor operate in collaboration with the Franciscan Family, the constitution and development of which they encourage.

HOW TO PREPARE ONESELF FOR THE FRANCISCAN MISSION

If you feel yourself called to "ad gentes" evangelisation you are invited to go and prepare yourself in the "Notre Dame des Nations" at Bruxelles.
It is necessary to have a presentation from your Minister Provincial and an obedience from the Minister General to go to this fraternity.
