This, the greeting of the Risen Lord, is also the greeting I send to you. It comes from me personally, from the General Definitory, and from all the brothers who live in the Curia because of their service to the Order.

Peace to each and to all of you! It is a greeting, and also an invitation to nurture peace within ourselves so as to make it flower round about us. The Lord continues to offer it to us, even if through fear or disillusionment - like the disciples in the upper room - we have shut fast the door of our hearts.

He draws close to us, becoming the companion of our journey on all the roads that lead to Emmaus, and enables us to open our hearts once again to peace, after the frustrations and disappointments of life.

As we listen to his word and break the bread with him, our hearts will quicken to the warmth of his friendship and his love, and he will make us heralds of joy, of reconciliation and of fraternity.

May this joy in the Risen Lord, which is a gift of the Spirit, be our light and strength as we continue on the path of our vocation all the days of our life.
