FROM
MEMORY
TO
PROPHECY:
ORIENTATIONS
AND
PROPOSALS
Dear Brothers,
During its intense period of meetings (ñtempo forteî) in June, the General Definitorium examined and verified in the original language and in the various translations the definitive redaction of the texts adopted by the General Chapter.
As promised, this has all been accomplished with the greatest possible speed. Now the Provinces, Custodies and all the Friars can have in their hands the document From Memory to Prophecy: Orientations and Proposals and begin to study it and put it into effect, so that the memory may be transformed into prophecy with the participation of everyone, each according to his own share in the multiplicity of the gifts of the Spirit and the variety of responsibilities.
I now therefore exhort the Provinces and the Conferences to arrange meetings both to study it and to put it into practical effect, following the methodology adopted by the General Chapter: sharing of faith and life, contemplative experience, common study and proposals with contributions by everyone. This is to apply a way of wisdom which is certainly valid for every choice or project. The Chapter Document, however, may be the propitious occasion for making more widely known this ñnewî practice, so much in harmony with our being a Fraternity.......
In fulfilling the duty I accepted in the Chapter, I remind you that I, as ñminister and servantî, and the General Definitorium have begun the service asked of us by the Chapter. We trust that you constantly remember us before the Lord, the Father of mercies, and rely on your fraternal communion and generous collaboration.
The Lord bless you and guard you!
Fraternally
