Celebrating the Jubilee with you and welcoming the opportunities of the Third Millenium I want to support the efforts of the Franciscan Friars in formation and evangelization. Please, use my contribution as indicated on this form.

TODAY - Franciscan Formation and Evangelization Projects and Needs - TOMORROW

Today The Minister General subsidizes the living and educational costs of almost 350 students in impoverished areas who are preparing to be Franciscan religious and priests at the cost of LIT 249.061.000. Tomorrow In view of the number of aspirants the ranks of the students will increase and so will the costs, as these countries strive to recover from disasters, war and inflation.

Today Friars in Albania, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and Ukraine are in need of houses of formation. Costs of materials and labor for construction in these countries are high. By their own efforts these mission provinces raise a large percent of the costs but together they ask for LIT 368.200.000 to supply what is lacking. Tomorrow The Minister General hopes to send this assistance. Then the new mission communities of the Order will be prepared to accept candidates. The needs will be similar. How will we meet them? Our future depends on how we respond.

Today 58 Friars from Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, and Latin America are pursuing higher studies to prepare themselves to serve in the formation and seminary programs in their home countries. They do this with a scholarship from the Minister General. The need for prepared instructors will continue. Formators themselves require continuing education. We are forming Franciscan evangelizers for Tomorrow The Formation process and scholarship program will be assured by a gift of LIT 400.000.000.

Today and tomorrow The Franciscans continue to be present with the poor sharing their life, their anxieties and offer charitable assistance and simple development projects. To support these the Minister General offers some financial assistance. The amount depends on what benefactors make available.

WHO WILL HELP? The names of those responding will be inscribed in the JUBILEE BOOK in the Curia Generalizia dei Frati Minori in Rome, so that the Friars continue to remember our friends and collaborators in daily prayer.
