| Commissione Internazionale Re Economica (CIRE) Rome 23-27 October 2000 |
The budget process begins early in the calendar year. Our office sends out an invitation to the various Entities Dependent upon the Minister General, asking them to begin consulting the grassroots about what is being done and needs to be done in the various locations. Then the suggestions can easily be integrated into the agenda of a smaller executive group: house discretorium or Academic Board, for examination and study. Eventually the proposals are reworked so that besides the information we need to examine and plan the day-to-day administration of the Entity, we also have the possibility to prepare different projects to include with our budget proposal for the following year. This information is then brought to the five friars of the CIRE who examine the budget and call in those responsible for various areas when clarifications are needed.

Besides their regular work on the Budget for 2001, the CIRE also reflected on their three years of service to the Order on this particular committee. The time period of this group is for three years and so they will need to be confirmed or replacements sought by the General Definitorium. The Economo Generale also formally asked this group if it would be willing to take on an internal audit, with a view to helping his office take its next step in facilitating greater simplicity and efficiency in the running of the various economatos that fall under his wing. Certainly a word of thanks goes to the members of CIRE for their willingness to serve the Order in this very special work over the past three years. |
