In an effort to begin a programme of proactive maintenance, the Economato Generale has begun meetings with a new friar resource called The Properties Group or Gruppo Edilizia.

After consulting with the Definitorial Council on the Economy (CED) it was decided that we would tap the local resources of three friars who could help us examine the proposed renovations for the new year 2000. Having three Italian friars from outside the curia provided us with a number of benefits: a more objective opinion, friars who have already proved themselves competent in their own provinces, people well versed with the complicated building laws and codes and the possibility of having a better handle on local professionals and contractors.

The members of this committee are (fom left to right) Bro. Pino Noto, vice-Economo Generale, Bro. Jimmy Zammit, Economo-Generale, Bro. Emanuele Cerruti of the Province of Salerno, Bro. Francesco Rossi of the Province of Rome and Bro. Giuseppe Bertuzzi of the Province of Assisi.

The First meeting took place here at the curia on Tuesday October 19th. During the day, the offers prepared for this year's budget were examined and evaluated. It was decided that another meeting in January would take place to do on site examinations of the houses dependent upon the minister General and then to set up a list of priorities.
