SOME FORMATION NEWS
1. The PAA of Rome.
New professors and researchers at Centres of the Order.
This year the following friars were incorporated into those Centres for Study and Research dependent on the Minister General:
- Carlo Paolazi, ofm, Province of Trent, Italy, for Grottaferratas "Critical Edition of Franciscan Texts" section.
- Benedykt Huculak ofm, Province of Immaculate Conception, Poland, for the Scotist Commission.
- Sidney J. Mascarenhas, ofm, Province of India, as professor in the PAA Faculty of Philosophy
- Salvatore Barbagallo, ofm, Province of Sicily, Italy, as professor in the Faculty of Theology (Liturgy).
- Jorge Enrique Horta Espinoza, ofm, Province of Chile, as professor in the Law Faculty.
- Miguel Angel Lavilla, ofm, Province of Valencia, Spain, as professor (for one semester) in the Faculty of Theolgy (Spirituality).
- Waclaw Chomik, ofm, Province of St Hedwig, Poland, as professor (for one semester) in the Faculty of Theology (Moral).

- Celestino Corsato, of diocese of Padua, Italy, to Professor "Adiunctus".
- Rino Sgarbossa, ofm, Province of Venice, Italy, to Professor "Adiunctus".
2. "Ratio Formationis Provinciae" confirmed by Minister General.
"Ratio Formationis" of Province of Cantabria, Spain.

"Ratio Formationis" of Prov. of The Three Companions, France & Belgium.
3. Franciscan Chair at Urbanianum University.
- The new Chair is to be established in the Philosophy Faculty of the Urbanianum (Rome). Its place is in the Facultys biennial programme, with at least four to six semestral courses, two or three per annum, one obligatory in the fundamental cycle and the others in the licentiate cycle.
4. Oldest codex of St Bonaventures Legenda maior published
- The Conference of Spanish Ministers Provincial has published what is the oldest so far known codex of the Legenda maior. It dates from the end of 13th century, belongs to CONFRES and is kept in the interprovincial "Cardenal Cisneros House" in Madrid. It has 164 illustrations, inspired by Giotto. The edition carries several studies on the manuscript, a Spanish translation and a facsimile edition of the Latin text.
5. Centenary of the birth of Karlo Balic, ofm.
- The 6th December 1999 was the centenary of the birth of Father Karlo Balic of the Province of Splitz (Croatia), founder/president of the Scotist Commission and the Pontifical International Marian Academy, and Rector of the PAA. To honour the memory of this outstanding Franciscan, his Province, the Antonianum, the PIMA and the Scotist Commission organised two international Symposia. The one organised by the Province of Splitz, held 5-7 of last November, had as theme "Aktualnost Predaje" (The Actuality of Tradition); that of 8-9 of November at the Antonianum was entitled "Memoria eius in benedictione".
