Secular franciscan condemned to death.
Execution date: January 9, 2001 Jack is in prison since 1989 and on death row in Livingston since 1991. He is 37 years of age and in prison since he was 25. He was arrested and condemned for the rape and murder of a woman. He claims to be innocent of this crime. Jack has had a poor education and never could afford a good defence. In recent years he has worked inside the prison. In 1998 he received the Sacrament of Confirmation and at the beginning of this year he became a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. He is resigned about his fate, which he awaits with serenity, at least from what can be judged from his correspondence.
