Vossenack, Germany, October 12, 2000 After almost two weeks of work, the First In ternational COngress of JPIC of the OFM has reached its end. During this commitment in its JPIC services within the Church and in union with other organizations that work to better the life conditions of the poorer members of our societies. The following themes were touched upon: analysis of the causes of poverty and the ecological crisis in the context of globalization; option of the poor; peace-making; accompanying displaced people and migrant workers; a commitment to protect the environment; etc. The following conclusions and commitments, wich were the result of this COngress, will be included in a final document that will be distributed to the whole OFM. The most relevant points are the following:
b) To carry out a more inculturated evangelization which promotes the dignity of people, respecting their cultures and their religiosity. c) To promote more firmly the campaigns for the cancellation of the external debt of the countries, as a way of celebrating the Year 2000 JUbilee. d) To commit ourselves firmly with peace-building, the promotion of human rights and the defense of Creation. e) To promote the brotherĒs participation in the international forums where the Franciscan Family is present (UNO, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, etc.,) to make the voice of the poor heard and to walk towards a culture of respect for the human person and life in its integrity. We hope that, through this commitments, the Friars Minors will be prophets of their times. |

Luego de casi dos semanas de reunion, el primer Congreso Internacional de JPIC de la OFM llego a su fin. En estos dias mas de noventa delegados, venidos de todos los continentes, reflexionaron sobre el compromiso de los franciscanos en sus servicios de JPIC en la Iglesia y en union con otras organizaciones que trabajan por emjorar la vida de los mas pobres. Los temas tratados fueron los siguientes: Analisis de la pobreza y el deterioro ecologico en el contexto de la globalizacion, la opcion por los pobres, la construccion de la Paz, los derechos humanos, el acompanamiento a personas desplazadas y trabajadores migrantes, el compromiso con la defensa del medio ambiente, entre otros. Las conclusiones y compromisos de este Congreso se difundiran por medio de un documento final que sera distribuido a toda la OFM. Los puntos mas relevantes son los siguientes:
b)Llevar a cabo una evangelizacion mas inculturada que promueva la dignidad de las personas, respetando las culturas y su religiosidad. c) Impulsar mas decididamente las campanhas para la cancelacion de la Deuda Externa de los paises pobres, como una manera de celebrar el jubileo 2000. d) Comprometerse mas decididamente en la construccion de la Paz, la promocion de los derechos humanos y la defensa de la Creacion. e) Favorecer la participacion de mas hermanos en los foros internacionales donde la familia franciscana tiene presencia (ONU, Bnaco Mundial, FOndo Monetario Internacional, etc.,) con el fin de que la voz de los mas pobres sea escuchada y caminemos hacia una cultura de respeto a la persona humana y a la vida en su integridad. Esperamos que bajo estos compromisos los hermanos menores sean profetas de este tiempo. |
