Other Activities of the JPIC Office
Animation Committee: The animation committee consists of four friars plus the Director and Assistant-Director of the office. They met on two occasions during 1999. The office organises these meetings and the subsequent follow up afterwards. The first meeting took place in Dublin in May. After the meeting some of the committee visited the North of Ireland and stayed with friars in North Belfast, an area badly affected by violence. They spoke with politicians and church leaders; encouraged a continuation of the peace process, as well as becoming informed of the situation. A second meeting took place in Vossenack, Germany, with the sole objective of organising the International meeting for October 2000. A mini-animation committee meeting took place in Geneva in August to advance planning.
