Some Proposals for 2000
- Visit the remaining four conferences ( EAC, Sub-Sahara, North Africa and west-Slav). All JPIC conference commissions will have been visited at least once in three years, before the International JPIC congress in Vossenack.
- Support Minister General and Definitory in their animation role; to encourage an ever-greater integration of the JPIC dimension of our Franciscan spirituality into fraternal life and ministries, as well as supporting JPIC commissions in the provinces and conferences.
- Organisation of the International JPIC animators Congress in Vossenack, Germany for October 2000.
- Translation and distribution of the JPIC Resource-book and encouragement of its use in initial and on-going formation.
- Continue to strengthen JPIC structures in the Order at conference and provincial level. Special encouragement and support will be given to weaker JPIC commissions and friars whose lives are in danger.
- Coordination with the Franciscan Family, Inter-congregational JPIC commission and Franciscans International on specific initiatives and in particular the debt cancellation.
- Support JPIC Continental initiatives: European JPIC conference coordinators meetings and the Washington office for Latin America.
- Mediate ideas of the JPIC animators on proposed structural changes in the Order for the General Chapter of 2003.
- Oversee the distribution of remaining contributions for the Kosovar refugees.
Conclusion: We wish to briefly outline some positive aspects of the integration of JPIC into our lives and into the ministries of the Order, as well as respond to new challenges, and recognize persistent difficulties and limitations. This is not an exhaustive list, but is intended to stimulate a little reflection and hopefully interest in working harder together for an all too illusive integrated spirituality.
