Rome 08.06.1999 - While politicians and military strategists discuss about Peace, life in the Balkan region is gradually becoming unbearable for both sides of the local population. Witnesses coming from Yugoslavia speak of a growing tension: the Nato bombings are accentuating nationalism and racial intollerance. It seems that we are in front of the mystery of evil and it seems incomprehensible: the lies and falsities of the propoganda machines are evident even if from the outside only a little is perceptible. Much time will be needed, maybe generations, to bring peace to the hearts and minds after the malvagities which has been perpetrated. We need to ask St. Francis to teach us that all creatures belong to the Creator and to learn to love them with the same love with which God loves them.

GUERRA NEI BALCANI: LA SITUAZIONE ATTUALE

Roma 08.06.1999 - Mentre i politici e i militari discutono sulla pace, la situazione balcanica è vissuta con disagio crescente dalla popolazione - dell'una e dell'altra parte. Le testimonianze che giungono dalla Jugoslavia ci parlano di tensione crescente: quello che i bombardamenti Nato stanno innescando è l'accentuazione dei nazionalismi e della intolleranza razziale. Ci sembra di essere davanti al mistero del male e la cosa ci è incomprensibile: le bugie e le falsità della propaganda sono evidenti, ormai, dall'esterno se ne vede solo una piccola parte. Ci vorrà molto tempo, forse alcune generazioni, per pacificare cuori e menti dalla malvagità che ogni giorno viviamo. Dobbiamo invocare sempre più spesso S. Francesco perche' ci insegni che tutte le creature appartengono al Creatore ed impariamo ad amarle come Dio le ama.
