Soon after the signing of the Peace agreement between NATO and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia the kosovo refugees strted returning to their homeland from Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro. The Caritas Albania, according to a comunique by its director Fr. Mario Baglio, has already set up a plan of action to bring aid to the refugees returning to Kosovo. This includes the setting up of an emergency camp at Pritzen. The mission, made up of about 20 volunteers, will start out by inspecting the infrastructure (pipelines, sewers, sanitary structures). This will be followed by the settinf up of a field hospital and the setting up of prefabricated houses to be used as dwellings. Fr. Flavio Cavallini, Minister Provincial of Albania, is actually in Kosovo. Contacted by telephone he reported that he arrived at Djakovica accompanied by a volonteer. In this city there is a friary belonging to the Province of the Holy Cross of Sarajevo. The friary had been requisitioned by the soldiers and used as military barracks; the three friars who lived there were counted among the dispersed. Fr. Flavio succeeded to contact them. Furthermore he also made it possible to contact and reach out of Kosovo (for the first time since the beginning of the bombing of Kosovo). Fr. Flavio confirmed that the three friars are well and that they had returned to Djakovica to give their service to the people. The Church of the Friary is in bad shape but still standing. The devastation of the civilian quarters in more striking. More witnesses are emerging daily of violence and killings which the local population had to endure. Fr. Flavio is in fact wieghing the possibility of a first expedition to bring aid to the population which remained in Kosovo and to those who return and will find themselves helpless and deprived of everything.

KOSOVO: DOPO LA FINE DEI BOMBARDAMENTI

Dopo la firma del trattato di pace tra la NATO e la Repubblica federale di Jugoslavia, è iniziato il rientro dei kosovari profughi in Albania, Macedonia e Montenegro. La Caritas albanese, secondo un comunicato del direttore P. Mario Baglio, ha già approntato un piano di aiuto per i rifugiati che ritornano in Kosovo, che prevede la creazione di un campo di accoglienza e soccorso a Prizren. La missione, composta da circa 20 volontari inizierà a verificare lo stato delle infrastrutture (acquedotti, fognature, strutture sanitarie) per avviare, poi, l’allestimento di un ospedale da campo e la posa di prefabbricati da usarsi come abitazioni. In questi giorni si trova in Kosovo anche il Ministro provinciale dell’Albania, fr. Flavio Cavallini. Raggiunto telefonicamente, ha raccontato di essere giunto a Djakovica accompagnato da un volontario. In questa cittadina esiste un convento appartenente alla Provincia della S. Croce di Sarajevo. Il convento era stato requisito dai militari ed utilizzato come caserma; i tre frati che vi risiedevano erano dati per dispersi. Fr. Flavio ha potuto metterli in comunicazione per la prima volta dall’inizio dei bombardamenti con l’esterno del Kosovo, ed ha assicurato che i tre frati stanno bene e sono ritornati a Djakovica per riprendere il loro servizio alla gente. La chiesa del convento è in cattivo stato, ma è ancora in piedi. Più pesanti le devastazioni subite dalle abitazioni civili. Emergono ogni giorno nuove testimonianze di stragi e di violenze subite dagli abitanti. Fr. Flavio sta valutando la possibilità di una prima spedizione di aiuti per la popolazione che è rimasta in luogo e per quanti ritornano e si trovano sprovvisti di ogni cosa

SITUACIÓN EN KOSOVO DESPUÉS DEL CESE DE LOS BOMBARDEOS

Tras la firma del tratado de paz entre la OTAN y la República Federal de Yugoslavia, han empezado a regresar a Kosovo prófugos kosovares refugiados en Albania, Macedonia y Montenegro. Según un comunicado del P. Mario Baglio, director de Cáritas de Albania, ésta ha preparado un plan de ayuda para estos refugiados que regresan a Kosovo. Se trata de la creación de un campo de acogida y de socorro en Prizren. Veinte voluntarios van a estudiar la situación en que se encuentran las infraestructuras (conducción de agua, alcantarillados, estructuras sanitarias), con el fin de montar un hospital de campo y viviendas prefabricadas. En estos días se encuentra en Kosovo Fr. Flavio Cavallini, Ministro provincial de Albania. Nos ha indicado por teléfono que ha llegado, acompañado de un voluntario, a Djakovica, localidad donde existe un convento perteneciente a la Provincia de la Santa Cruz, de Sarajevo. Este convento fue requisado por los militares serbios, que lo emplearon como cuartel. Hasta ahora no se tenía ninguna noticia de los tres Hermanos que formaban la Fraternidad. Fr. Flavio nos ha indicado que se encuentran bien y que han vuelto a Djakovica, donde han emprendido de nuevo su actividad. La iglesia del convento sigue en pie, aunque está muy dañada. Las casas de la población han sufrido muchísimo más daño. Cada día afloran nuevos testimonios sobre los estragos y violencias que ha padecido la gente. Fr. Flavio está estudiando la posibilidad de enviar una expedición de ayuda para la población que no salió de Djakovica y para los prófugos que regresen a ella.
