Dear Brothers and Sisters, Thanks be to God! We received just yesterday a phone call from East Timor: all our 5 brothers working there and all nine franciscan Sisters are well! They journeyed with the people on the bush for few weeks and now back in Wekiar and Natarbora (the southern part of East Timor) to continue to help the people to rebuild their life and sometimes their houses. The war destroyed a lot of things. Thank to all our brothers and sisters praying with us and expressing their solidarity. May our presence: myself and general definitory fr. NOTICIAS DE TIMOR ORIENTAL (26.10.99)

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas: Ayer recibimos una llamada telefónica desde Timor Oriental. Gracias a Dios nuestros 5 Hermanos y las 9 Hermanas franciscanas están bien. Han permanecido escondidos durante unas semanas con la gente en el bosque y ahora han regresado a Wekiar y a Natarbora (al sur de Timor) para continuar su labor de reconstrucción de la vida de la gente y de los edificios. La destrucción ha sido grande. Gracias a todos los Hermanos y Hermanas que nos han apoyado con su oración y nos han expresado su solidaridad. Hago votos por que la presencia de Fr. NOTIZIE DA TIMOR EST (26.10.99)

Cari Fratelli e Sorelle, ieri abbiamo ricevuto una telefonata da Timor Est: grazie a Dio i nostri 5 Frati e le 9 Suore francescane stanno bene! Sono fuggiti insieme alla gente nella boscaglia per qualche settimana ed ora sono tornati a Wekiar e Natarbora (nel sud di Timor) per continuare ad aiutare nell’opera di ricostruzione della vita della gente e degli edifici. Grande è stata la distruzione. Grazie a tutti i Fratelli e le Sorelle che ci hanno sostenuto con le loro preghiere e ci hanno espresso la loro solidarietà. Prego perché la nostra presenza tra i Fratelli dell’Indonesia, del Definitore generale Xavier Yu e mia, possa infondere loro nuovo coraggio per continuare con generosità nel loro servizio. Fr.
