L'assassinat du Père Vjeko Curic frappe au-delà'de Kabgayi toute l'Eglise du Rwanda. La mort tragique de ce fils de sant François me touche aussi particulièrement car avec lui et sous sa conduite, en juin 1994, dans des conditions très périleuses j'avais sillonné comme messager de paix le pays en pleine déflagration. C'est un grand témoin de là charité qui disparaît et le sacrifice de sa vie est pour nous tous un appel renouvelé à la réconciliation.

Ho vissuto dal 1984-1994 nel Rwanda come missionario e lì ho conosciuto Vjeko. Abbiamo vissuto tante aventure missionarie insieme, amando quel popolo rwandese, credendo e sognando un Rwanda nuovo dove tutti potranno vivere un giorno nella pace... Purtroppo non è cosl. Il sogno di padre Vjeko è stato interotto in modo violente e crudele. Lui ci ha preceduto nel nostro cammino verso l'Eternità. Siamo rimasti noi per continuare il sogno di padre Vjeko, quel suo sogno dove ogni Rwandese aveva un posto sicuro, caloroso e dove ognuno poteva ricevere un bel sorriso di un grande cuore che era il suo. Caro Vjeko, riposi in pace e che la terra di Rwanda ti sia leggera, la terra dei martiri che tu amavi tanto, fino ad ultimo respiro. Vjeko, amico, ti abbraccio!
