The day opened with the words pronounced by Br José Rodríguez Carballo, the new Minister general: "These few, simple, but heartfelt words wish to be, first of all, a greeting to all of you, my Brother Chapter Members and, in you and through you, to all the Brothers of the Order spread throughout the entire world: “May the Lord give you peace!”... On my part, at this time, I only wish to reaffirm my firm wish to serve all, to be close to all, to love and, as far as possible, to nourish all the Brothers of the Fraternity as a mother loves and nourishes her son... Sono cosciente dei miei limiti...I am aware of my limitations. Therefore, from this moment on, with great humility, “kissing your feet”, but also with great confidence, I ask you to help me through your understanding and fraternal collaboration. The General Chapter of the Friars Minor lived then another important moment when the Assembly elected Br. Antonio Franjic as Vicar General of the Order. At the end of the vote, all the Chapter Members congratulated the newly elected friar, showing him the affection and the esteem of the entire fraternity. In the afternoon the Chapter Members gathered in their Conferences to consult about the election of the General Definitory. When the chapter members re-entered the chapter hall the candidates were presented and the first straw vote ensued.

La giornata di oggi si è aperta con le parole pronunciate da fra José Rodriguez Carballo, nuovo Ministro generale: "Questi brevi, semplici ma molto sentite parole vogliono essere, prima di tutto, di saluto a tutti voi, fratelli Capitolari e, in voi e attraverso di voi, a tutti i fratelli dell'Ordine sparsi nel mondo intero: "Il Signore vi dia la sua pace!". Da parte mia, in questi momenti, desidero solo riaffermare la mia ferma volontà di servire tutti, di essere vicino a tutti, di amare e, per quanto possibile, nutrire, come una madre ama e nutre il suo figlio, tutti i frati della Fraternità. Sono cosciente dei miei limiti. Per questo, fin da ora, con molta umiltà, "baciandovi i piedi", ma anche con molta fiducia, vi chiedo di aiutarmi con la vostra comprensione e con la vostra fraterna collaborazione. Fratelli: contate su di me come io conto su di voi". (Vedi anche il video registrato ieri).

Il Capitolo generale dei Frati minori ha poi vissuto oggi un altro momento importante. Questa mattina l’Assemblea ha infatti eletto fra Antonio Franjic quale Vicario generale dell’Ordine. Al termine dello scrutinio, tutti i Capitolari si sono congratulati con il neo eletto, manifestandogli l’affetto e la stima dell’intera fraternità. Nel pomeriggio i Capitolari si sono radunati nelle Conferenze per consultarsi sull’elezione del Definitorio generale e al rientro in Aula è avvenuta la presentazione dei candidati a cui ha fatto seguito il I prescrutinio.

Hemos comenzado la jornada con unas palabras de nuestro nuevo Ministro fra José Rodriguez Carballo: Estas breves, sencillas, pero muy sentidas palabras quieren ser, ante todo, de saludo a todos vosotros, hermanos Capitulares y, en vosotros y a través de vosotros, a todos los hermanos de la Orden esparcidos por el mundo entero: «¡El Señor os dé su paz!»... Por mi parte, en estos momentos, sólo quiero reafirmar mi firme voluntad de servir a todos, de estar cercano a todos, de amar y, en lo posible, nutrir, como una madre ama y nutre a su hijo, a todos los hermanos de la Fraternidad... Soy consciente de mis limitaciones. Por eso, desde ahora, con mucha humildad, «besándoos los pies», pero también con mucha confianza, os pido que me ayudéis con vuestra comprensión y con vuestra fraterna colaboración. Hermanos: Contad conmigo como yo cuento con vosotros. (ver tambien el vídeo gravado ayer)... El Capítulo general de los Hermanos menores ha vivido después otro momento importante. Esta mañana la Asamblea ha elegido a Fr. Antonio Franjic como Vicario general de la Orden. Al final del escrutinio todos los Capitulares han felicitado al recién elegido, manifestándole el afecto y la estima de toda la fraternidad. Por la tarde los Capitulares se reunieron por Conferencias para consultarse sobre la elección de los Definidores generales y al regresar al Aula tuvo lugar la presentación de los candidatos a lo que siguió el prescrutinio.
