The assembly work was taken up once again the day after the audience that the Holy Father gave to the General Chapter of the Order. The discussion on and voting for the approval of the modifications relative to the General Constitutions and Statutes of the Order were begun in the Chapter Hall. The Commission of Experts, composed of Br. Joseph Chinnici, Br. Johannes Freyer and Br. Darío Carrero Morales da Velletri, presented the outline of the lay-out for the redaction of the Final Document to the Assembly. At the end of the afternoon session the Chapter Members were transported to Assisi, to the Basilica of St. Clare, to celebrate Vespers with the community of Poor Clares of the Proto-Monastery where the Vicar general Br. Antonio Franjic presided the Vespers. After praying together the Capitulars and the Poor Clares of the Protomonastery had a moment of fraternal sharing. The Minister General addressed a greeting and an invitation to them: “to help us to act in such a way that all meetings, here and in all the Monasteries spread throughout the world, become a celebration, an attentive listening to God, who always speaks to us, a giving thanks for all he gives us for life, a request for pardon and support for our fragility”. Br. José Carballo recalled that we are celebrating the 750th anniversary of the death of St. Clare: an occasion to give witness in the world to the extraordinary richness of the Franciscan charism, giving testimony of it to the men and women of our times. “It is a stupendous gift – Br. José stressed, turning to the daughters of Clare – but it also carries a great responsibility. We will never be able to respond fully to this call if we do not help each other, recognising with humility, joy and openness of heart that we need to be supported”. Even the Abbess Sr. Chiara Daniela greeted the friars underlining the importance to live the reciprocity of the franciscan charism and be witnesses in today's world of the beauty of Christ's image.

All’indomani dell’Udienza che il Santo Padre ha riservato al Capitolo generale dei Frati minori, sono ripresi ad Assisi i lavori assembleari. In aula ha avuto inizio la discussione ed il voto di approvazione delle modifiche relative alle Costitituzioni e agli Statuti generali dell’Ordine. La Commissione dei Periti, formata da fr. Joseph Chinnici, fr. Johannes Freyer e fr. Dario Carrero Morales da Velletri, ha presentato all’Assemblea la bozza dello Schema per la redazione del Documento finale. Al termine della sessione pomeridiana dei lavori, i capitolari si sono trasferiti ad Assisi, presso la Basilica di S. Chiara, dove il Vicario generale, fr. Antonio Franjic ha presieduto il Vespro.. Dopo aver insieme pregato i frati Capitolari e le Sorelle del Protomonastero si sono ritrovati per un momento di fraternità. Il Ministro generale ha rivolto loro un saluto e un invito: “aiutamoci a fare in modo che ogni nostro incontro, qui e in tutti i Monasteri sparsi per tutto il mondo, diventi una celebrazione, un ascolto attento di Dio che sempre ci parla, un rendimento di grazie per quanto ci dona di vivere, una richiesta di perdono e di sostegno per la nostra fragilità”. Fra José Carballo ha ricordato che stiamo celebrando il 750° anniversario della morte di Santa Chiara: un’occasione per testimoniare nel mondo la straordinaria ricchezza del carisma francescano, testimoniandola agli uomini del nostro tempo. “E’ un dono stupendo – ha sottolineato fra José rivolgendosi alle figlie di Chiara – ma comporta anche una grande responsabilità. Non saremo mai in grado di rispondere pienamente a questa chiamata se non aiutandoci a vicenda, riconoscendo con umiltà, letizia e apertura di cuore che abbiamo bisogno di essere sostenuti”. Anche la Abbadessa Sr. Chiara Daniela ha salutato i frati sottolineando l’importanza di vivere la reciprocità del carisma francescano per poter mostrare alla gente del nostro tempo la bellezza del volto di Cristo.
