The end is near!! We are almost there! One can notice the weary faces after the long weeks of work. But thanks to the good will of all and the Lord's help we have arrived to the conclusion of the work with the last votations taken in the Chapter Hall. The long heartfelt applause could be heard from far indicating the end of the work even if tomorrow we will be back in the Chapter Hall for the official closing followed by the concluding Eucharistic celebration at the Portiuncola which will be presided by the Minister general. The capitulars also approved the Final document entitled "May the Lord give you Peace". It encloses the work carried out during these weeks and it will be available to all friars in the coming days. Here is the opening statement: " We, Friars Minor from one hundred and ten different countries gathered at the Porziuncola in the early years of the third millennium, wish to re-affirm and re-discover the profound implications of the call to proclaim the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We remember, in particular, the greeting revealed to Francis in the context of a fractured and suffering humanity: “May the Lord give you peace”. Today also, with unusual force, humanity “suffers the pains of childbirth” until it will be given the freedom of the children of God (cf. Rm 8, 18-25). “We wish to embody in our lives and in our works this Word that lives in our hearts and is ‘hidden in the field of the world and of the hearts of men (3LtCl 7). We wish to echo, with “all our heart, with all our soul and with all our mind” (cf. Rnb 23,8; Mt 22, 37) the “yes” of God to all creation, of His watchfulness over all things and His affirmation that all of them are “good” (cf. Jn 1, 31); of His supreme solidarity with all men and women in the birth, life, work, death and resurrection of the Lord (cf. TestCla 13); of His rotund “yes” to all creatures living in peace and justice (cf. 1 Cor 15, 28). We wish to embody this message of hope in the present time of our personal and fraternal life in such a way that we will succeed in bringing the people, including our enemies, close to peace and goodness. We see, in a special way, the need not to domesticate the prophetic words of the Gospel in order to adjust them to an accommodated style of life. On the contrary, we wish to receive the Spirit, feel the internal gospel urgency of “being born again” (Jn 3, 3) on both the personal and institutional levels. As of tomorrow we will be returning to our Provinces taking with us this experience of fraternity. This will be our last eMail. We wish to thank you sincerely for accompanying us during these days.

La fine è vicina! Siamo al penultimo giorno. Si nota la stanchezza dopo queste lunghe settimane di lavoro. Ma grazie alla buona volontà di tutti e il sostegno del Signore si è arrivati alla conclusione dei lavori con le ultime votazioni in aula. Si sentiva da lontano l'applauso liberatorio di tutti i capitolari anche se domani mattina ci ritroveremo in aula per la chiusura ufficiale e di seguito la celebrazione Eucaristica conclusiva nella Porziuncola presieduta dal Ministro generale. I Capitolari hanno anche approvato un documento intitolato "Il Signore vi dia Pace" che racchiude i lavori svolti in questi giorni. Tale documento, che sarà disponibile per tutti nei prossimi giorni, inizia con queste parole: "Noi Frati Minori provenienti da 110 Paesi diversi, riuniti alla Porziuncola nei primi anni del III millennio, desideriamo ribadire e riscoprire le profonde implicazioni della chiamata a proclamare il Vangelo di nostro Signore Gesù Cristo. Ricordiamo, in particolare, il saluto rivelato a Francesco nel contesto di umanità fratturata e sofferente: “Il Signore ti dia pace”. Anche oggi, con forza inusitata, l’umanità “soffre i dolori del parto” fino a quando le sarà data la libertà dei figli di Dio (cfr. Rm 8,18-25). Desideriamo incarnare nella nostra vita e nel nostro lavoro questa Parola che abita nei nostri cuori e che è “nascosta nel campo del mondo e del cuore degli uomini” (3Agn 7). Desideriamo farci eco, “con tutto il cuore, con tutta l’anima e con tutta la mente” (cfr. Rnb XXIII,8; Mt 22,37) del “sì” di Dio a tutta la creazione, del suo sguardo a tutte le cose e della sua proclamazione che esse sono “buone” (cfr. Gn 1,31); della sua suprema solidarietà con tutti nella nascita, nella vita, nell’opera, nella morte e risurrezione del Signore (cfr. TestCl 13); del suo pieno “sì” a tutte le creature perché vivano nella pace e nella giustizia (cfr. 1Cor 15,28). Desideriamo incarnare questo messaggio di speranza nella concretezza della nostra vita personale e fraterna, nel modo di cercare di avvicinare i popoli, compresi i nemici, alla pace e al bene. Vediamo, in modo speciale, la necessità di non addomesticare le parole profetiche del Vangelo per adattarle ad un comodo stile di vita. Al contrario, desideriamo accogliere lo Spirito, sentire l’intima urgenza evangelica di “nascere di nuovo” (Gv 3,3) a livello sia personale sia istituzionale. Da domani tutti i partecipanti ritorneranno nelle proprie province portando con loro quest'esperienza di fraternità. !El final se avecina! Estamos en el penúltimo día. Se nota en el cansancio después de estas largas semanas de trabajo. Pero gracias a la buena voluntad de todos y al apoyo del Señor se llegó a la conclusión de los trabajos con las ultimas votaciones en el aula. Se sentía desde lejos el apluso liberador de todos los capitulares aunque mañana por la mañana se volverá al aula para la clusura oficial y seguirá la celebración Eucarística de clausura en la Porciúncula presidida por el Ministro general. Los Capitulares han aprobado un documento titulado: “El Señor te de paz” que recoge los trabajos desarrollados en estos días. Tal documento, que estará disponible para todos en los próximos días, comienza con estas palabras: "Hermanos Menores de ciento diez países distintos reunidos en la Porciúncula en este principio del tercer milenio, deseamos reafirmar y redescubrir las profundas implicaciones de la llamada a vivir y proclamar el Evangelio de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Recordamos, en particular, en el contexto de una humanidad fracturada y sufriente, el saludo revelado a Francisco: “El Señor les dé la paz”. También hoy, con fuerza inusitada, la humanidad “sufre dolores de parto” hasta que le sea dada la libertad de los hijos de Dios (Cf. Rm 8, 18-25). Deseamos encarnar en nuestras vidas y en nuestros trabajos esta Palabra que habita en nuestros corazones y que está “escondida en el campo del mundo y de los corazones de los hombres” (3CtaCla 7). Deseamos hacernos eco, con “todo el corazón, con toda el alma y con toda la mente” (Cf. Rnb 23,8; Mt 22, 37) del “sí” de Dios a toda la creación, de su mirada a todas las cosas y de su afirmación de que todas ellas son “buenas” (Cf. Gn 1, 31); de su suprema solidaridad con todos los hombres y mujeres en el nacimiento, la vida, obra, muerte y resurrección del Señor (Cf. TestCla 13); de su rotundo “sí” a que todas las criaturas vivan en paz y justicia (Cf. 1 Cor 15,28). Queremos encarnar este mensaje de esperanza en lo concreto de nuestra vida personal y fraterna, en el modo como logramos acercar a todos los pueblos, incluso enemigos, hacia la paz y el bien. Vemos, de un modo especial, la necesidad de no domesticar las palabras proféticas del Evangelio para ajustarlas a un estilo de vida acomodado. Al contrario, queremos acoger al Espíritu, sentir la urgencia evangélica interior de “nacer de nuevo” (Jn 3,3), tanto a niveles personales como institucionales". A partir de mañana todos los participantes retornaran a sus provincias llevando con ellos esta experiencia de fraterrnidad.
