The Plenary Council of the Order was opened with the celebration of the Eucharist, presided over by Br. Giacomo Bini, Minister General. The liturgy was animated by the Friars of the Province of Saints Francis and James and a local musical group. Br. Giacomo gave a reflection on the central topic of the PCO (the structures of the Order), commenting on the meeting of Nicodemus with the Lord Jesus. The first plenary session was held in the second part of the morning. Before entering the hall, the Minister General invited all the participants to make a gesture of reverence before the Word of God that, later, was enthroned in the hall where the work will take place. There followed the greetings of the host Minister Provincial, Br. Federico Hernández Carrillo and of the President of the Conference of Mexico and Central America, Br. Juan Ignacio Muro. The Minister General, thanking all who had made the meeting possible, greeted the Council Members recalling their responsibility in the service of animation and renewal of the Order. In the afternoon, the four linguistic groups (Spanish, English, Italian and German), in which a great part of the work of the PCO will be carried out, were formed. In the evening the three Moderators (Br. Juan Ignacio Muro Aréchiga, Br. Finian J. McGinn and Br. Francesco Bravi), who with the Minister General, the Vicar General and the Secretary of the PCO form the Council of the Presidency of the PCO itself, were elected. Thanks to the generous Mexican welcome, there is a great atmosphere of fraternity that once again gives testimony to the value and richness of being part of an international Order.

Con la celebrazione eucaristica presieduta da fr. Giacomo Bini, Ministro generale, si è aperto il Consiglio Plenario dell’Ordine. La liturgia è stata animata dai frati della provincia dei SS. Francesco e Giacomo e da un gruppo musicale locale. Fr. Giacomo ha introdotto la riflessione sul tema centrale del CPO (Le strutture dell’Ordine) commentando l’incontro di Nicodemo con il Signore Gesù. Nella seconda parte della mattinata si è svolta la prima sessione plenaria: prima di entrare nell’aula, il Ministro generale ha invitato tutti i partecipanti ad esprimere un gesto di riverenza nei confronti della Parola di Dio che, poi, è stata intronizzata nell’aula che ospiterà i lavori. Sono seguiti i saluti da parte del Ministro provinciale ospitante fr. Federico Hernandez Carrrillo e del Presidente della Conferenza del Messico e Centroamerica, fr. Juan Ignacio Muro. Anche il Ministro generale, ringraziando tutti coloro che hanno reso possibile questo incontro, ha rivolto un saluto ai Consiglieri richiamando la loro responsabilità nel servizio di animazione e rinnovamento dell’Ordine. Nel pomeriggio si sono formati i 4 gruppi linguistici (spagnolo, inglese, italiano e tedesco) nei quali si svolgerà gran parte del lavoro del CPO. In serata sono stati eletti i tre moderatori (Fr. Juan Ignacio Muro Aréchiga, Fr. Finian J. McGinn and Fr. Francesco Bravi), che con il Ministro generale, il Vicario generale e il Segretario del CPO, formano il Consiglio di Presidenza del CPO stesso. Grazie alla generosa accoglienza messicana, si è vissuto un clima di grande fraternità, che ancora una volta testimonia il valore e la ricchezza di far parte di un Ordine internazionale.

La celebración eucarística, presidida por Fr. Giacomo Bini, Ministro general de la Orden, ha inaugurado el Consejo plenario de la Orden de 2001. Han animado esta celebración eucarística los Hermanos de la Provincia de los Santos Francisco y Santiago y un grupo musical del lugar. Fr. Giacomo ha introducido la reflexión sobre el tema central del CPO (las estructuras de la Orden) con un comentario sobre el encuentro de Nicodemo con Jesús. En la segunda parte de la mañana se ha celebrado la primera sesión plenaria. Antes de entrar en el aula, el Ministro general ha invitado a todos los participantes a hacer un gesto de reverencia a la Palabra de Dios, que ha sido entronizada luego en el aula donde se celebrarán las asambleas. A continuación Fr. Federico Hernández Carrillo, Ministro de la Provincia que acoge al CPO, y Fr. Juan Ignacio Muro, Presidente de la Conferencia de México y América Central, han dado la bienvenida y saludado a los presentes. Seguidamente, el Ministro general ha dado las gracias a cuantos han hecho posible este encuentro y ha saludado a los Consejeros, a quienes les ha recordado su responsabilidad en el servicio de animación y de renovación de la Orden. Por la tarde se han formado cuatro grupos lingüísticos (alemán, español, inglés e italiano), en los cuales se llevará a cabo gran parte del trabajo del CPO. Al anochecer han sido elegidos los tres moderadores (Fr. Juan Ignacio Muro Aréchiga, Fr. Finian J. McGinn and Fr. Francesco Bravi), quienes forman, junto con el Ministro general, el Vicario general y el Secretario del CPO, el Consejo de Presidencia del CPO. Gracias a la generosa y cálida acogida mexicana, se ha vivido en un clima de gran fraternidad, que atestigua una vez más el valor y la riqueza de formar parte de una Orden internacional.
