Today, Sunday 20th October, was a day of pilgrimage and rest. As was programmed, we made a pilgrimage to Mount La Verna, the "Franciscan Calvary". We left Assisi at 7.30 in the morning and arrived at La Verna at 9.20. At the "holy mountain" everyone had time for personal prayer. At 11 o’clock we celebrated the Eucharist with a large multitude of pilgrims who, with us, wanted to contemplate the wonders that God had worked in his servant Francis. The Eucharist was presided over by the Secretary General for Formation and Studies, who, basing his sermon on the readings of the day, spoke about "God, the never-enough". After Mass we shared in the table of the local fraternity. We were more than 150 Friars in the refectory. As always, we were received very fraternally by the Brothers who guard this holy place of the Franciscans.

After lunch, the Guardian of the fraternity himself gave us an explanation of the more significant places. At 3 O’clock we took part in Mid-day prayer and the procession with the relic of St. Francis to the Chapel of the Stigmata. The procession having ended we returned to Assisi, tired but very satisfied with all we had lived during this unforgettable day for many, beautiful for all. Oggi, domenica 20 ottobre 2002, è stata una giornata di "pellegrinaggio" e riposo. Come era previsto siamo andati al monte della "Verna", il "calvario francescano". Abbiamo lasciato Assisi alle 7.30 arrivando alla Verna alle 9.20. Sul "santo Monte" ognuno ha vissuto un momento di preghiera personale. Alle 11.00 abbiamo celebrato l’Eucarestia con una grande moltitudine di pellegrini che come noi, volevano contemplare le meraviglie di Dio operate nel suo servo Francesco. L’Eucarestia è stata presieduta dal Segretario generale per la formazione e gli studi che, partendo dalle letture del giorno, ha parlato circa il "Dio che non basta mai". Dopo la messa abbiamo condiviso la "mensa" con la fraternità locale. Eravamo più di 150 frati nel refettorio. Come sempre, siamo stati accolti molto fraternamente dai frati che custodiscono questo santo luogo del francescanesimo.

Dopo pranzo il Guardiano stesso della fraternità ha fatto la spiegazione dei luoghi più significativi. Alle 15.00 abbiamo partecipato alla preghiera dell’Ora Media e alla processione, con la reliquia di San Francesco, alla cappella delle Stimmate. Anche la processione è stata presieduta da fra José R. Carballo. Finita la processione siamo tornati ad Assisi, stanchi ma molto soddisfatti della stupenda giornata vissuta da tutti che per molti sarà anche indimenticabile. "Il Signore è stato grande con noi e siamo felici". Il nostro fotoreporter, fra Crisostomo Fryc vi farà arrivare alcune immagini di questa bella giornata.

Hoy, domingo día 20 de octubre, ha sido un día de peregrinación y descanso. Tal como estaba previsto hemos peregrinado al monte Alvernia, el "calvario franciscano". Dejamos Asís a las 7, 30 de la mañana, llegando al Alvernia a las 9, 20. Ya en la "montaña santa" cada uno tuvo un rato para la oración personal. A las 11,00 celebramos la Eucaristía con una gran multitud de peregrinos que, como nosotros, querían contemplar las maravillas de Dios obradas en su siervo Francisco. La Eucaristía fue presidida por el Secretario general para la formación y los estudios quien, basándose en las lecturas del día, habló sobre el "Dios nunca bastante". Después de la misa compartimos la mesa con la fraternidad local. Éramos más de 150 hermanos en el comedor. Como siempre, hemos sido acogidos muy fraternamente por los hermanos que custodian este lugar santo del franciscanismo.

Después de comer el Guardián mismo de la fraternidad hizo la explicación de los lugares más significativos. A las 15.00 participamos en el rezo de la hora intermedia y en la procesión, con la reliquia de San Francisco, hacia la capilla de los estigmas. La procesión también estuvo presidida por el Hno. José R. Carballo. Terminada la procesión regresamos a Asís cansados pero muy satisfechos por todo lo vivido en esta jornada inolvidable para muchos, hermosa para todos. "El Señor ha estado grande con nosotros y estamos alegres". Nuestro reportero grafico, Fr. Crisóstomo Fryc os hará llegar algunas imágenes de esta hermosa jornada.
