Missionary Assignment
On Sunday, May 22, during the Community Mass at the General Curia, the Minister General conferred a missionary assignment to Brs. Francisco Fernandez, Thaddée Musas Kapend, and Pierre Kabamba. All three brothers were trained at the Fraternity of Notre Dame des Nations in Brussels together with four other Capuchin Friars also attending a Course for Franciscan Missionaries.
Br. Francisco, of Spanish origin, was a missionary in Bolivia for several years and now leaves for the Far East. Br. Thaddée of the Congolese Province of St. Benedict the African is actually one of the fruits of the Letter of the Minister General inviting the Friars to go to Morocco; Br. Thaddee will leave for this original mission of the Order as soon as he obtains an entry visa; Br. Pierre Kabamba, of the same Province as Br. Thaddée, already left for Haiti because he could not wait until the day of the missionary assignment when his entry visa would have expired.
During the beautiful Send-off liturgy, the Minister pointed out that every missionary departure rejuvenates our universal Fraternity, enriching it with new energies. Present ogether with the new missionaries were some of the fraternity brothers from Brussels: Br. Didier, the Guardian, Br. Gianfrancesco, course coordinator, and Br. Benoit, one of the collaborators. The next course preparation is slated for September-November 2011 in English.
