Closing of the 8th Centenary of the Consecration of St. Clare
On August 11, 2012, the centenary of the Consecration of St. Clare was concluded. Different celebrations were done in San Daminao, at the Basilica of St. Clare and at the Porziuncola. In a special way, the official closing came when the relics of the hair of St. Clare were restored at the Basilica dedicated to her in the afternoon of August 11, at 6PM Solemn Mass of the Transitus of St. Clare, presided by Fr. José Rodrìguez Carballo, ofm, Minister General of the Friars Minor. Here is the text of his homily in Italian | Spanish.
In the afternoon of the same day, starting at 3:30, a moment of prayer preceded the dedication of the sanctuary of the Porziuncola at cloister of St. Clare’s itself. The dedication witnessed the installation of seven works of art in oil on a table made by Aurelio Bruni, a statue of the Saint made by Piero Casentini and a majolica pot made by Rebecca Becker. The dedication of the Cloister was highlighted by a concert in honor of St. Clare by a group called, “Trasimeno String Quartet” and by the soprano, Francesca Bruni. Furthermore, a short stage drama was presented by Compagnia treatrale “Chiara di Dio”. The Minister General was present in the said dedication.
