General Secretariat for Missions and Evangelisation
The General Secretariat for the Missions and Evangelisation animates the vocation of all Friars for the “raison d’etre of the Order”: the Evangelisation mission. It is its duty to promote the special vocations for the “ad gentes” mission. It promotes and supports all forms of Evangelisation and promotes international collaboration between the Conferences of Provincial Ministers.

Visit of the Minister General in Amazonia – Iquitos
In the Franciscan center of Punchana in the city of Iquitos (Peru), a meeting of the Missionary Franciscan Family in the Amazon took place from June 2-6, 2013. Convened by the Minister General, the Assembly was made up of about 50 brothers and sisters, namely, the Friars Minor, Capuchin nuns, and lay people. They all came from different localities of the boundless Amazon: Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, and Brazil. In addition to the missionaries, present from these countries were the respective Provincial Ministers and two Franciscans bishops. (more…)
Visit of the Minister General in Amazonia – Requena
The first visit of the new Minister General, Br. Michael Perry, was in Requena, the place chosen as the beginning of the new Amazon Project. This visit is a clear sign to emphasize the missionary vocation of the Order. Accompanied by both Definitors, Br. Nestor Schwerz and Julio Bunader, as well as the other facilitators of the SGME, Br. Arturo Rios and Massimo Tedoldi, the Minister arrived in Requena on May 31, after an adventurous journey on the large Amazonian rivers. (more…)
Missionary Mandate
On Sunday, May 26, our Church of Santa Maria Mediatrix renewed the rite of the missionary mandate to two brothers, Radoslaw Kepczynski and Natake Fiumanò. The former belongs to the Province of our Lady of the Angels in Poland and will depart as a missionary in Cameroon, where a new presence of the Order is emerging, while the latter is of the Province of St. Charles Borromeo in Milan, Italy, and will serve the Custody of Morocco. SGFS Congress in Brazil
From twelve countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, 113 friars, 7 religious and 24 lay people gathered from April 21-27, 2013, for the II Latin American Congress on Evangelization. The Meeting point was the city of Canindé, located in the north-east of Brazil, in a true Franciscan cloister, where everything speaks of St. Francis of Assisi; it is the destination of many pilgrims, devotees of St. Francis das Chagas (of the wounds). In addition to their good example, the fraternal hospitality of the Province of St. Antony of Brazil and of the local fraternity was the first evangelization which the Congress participants received. Annual Meeting Russia-Kazakhstan
The Friars of the Franciscan Foundation of Russia – Kazakhstan went up to the mountain of La Verna, this year, for their annual meeting. May 1-3, 2013, were days of prayer, fraternity, and assessment of the life and mission of this group of Friars Minor who work in the vast lands of the East. From the Curia, in attendance were the Vicar General, Br. Michael Perry, Br. Ernest Siekierka, Definitor General for that region of the world, and Br. Missionary Formation in Egypt
A week of Ongoing Formation dedicated to the missionary spirit, the soul of every type of evangelization. This is the commitment which the Province of the Holy Family of Egypt wanted to experience from March 11-15, 2013. Over fifty Friars, representing about thirty Friaries scattered throughout the country, attended the meetings offered by Br. Massimo Tedoldi, SGME. (more…)

Seminar on New Forms of evangelization in Europe
On Monday, March 4, 2013, the IV Seminar for new forms of evangelization in Europe began in Greccio (RI). The Seminar is sponsored by the Order through the General Secretariat for the Missions and Evangelization of Rome (SGME). The total number of participants are approximately about 40, coming from different countries (Poland, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina . Message of the brothers meeting in Nairobi
In alignment with the Year of Faith proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI and in response to the General Chapter of 2009, the Commission for Dialogue in the Order invited the Secretaries for the Missions and Evangelization of the African Conference for a meeting from February 18-21, 2013 in Nairobi, Kenya, to reflect on the theme of dialogue with Islam, a religion that shares our belief in the one God.
