A DVD about the Franciscan missionary vocation

The General Secretariat for Evangelisation has produced the DVD “Misit vos in universo mundo (He sent you into the whole world)”. The project is to tell of and show the missionary vocation of the Friars Minor incarnated in time and among peoples. The work was carried out by the ‘Centro di Produzione dell’Antoniano’ of Bologna, which took the shots on the five continents – from Haiti to Siberia, from the Amazon to Rwanda, from Assisi to La Verna, from St. Francisco to Thailand, from Florence to Morocco and from Brussels to China – during six months.

“Misit vos in universo mundo” is destined for distribution throughout the world and so there is a choice of eight languages (Croatian, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Polish and Spanish). The aid is offered to the Franciscan Family and to all who wish to know the history and present development of the embodiment of the experience of St. Francis of Assisi.

The reality shown documents the actuality of the Franciscan charism which is expressed in an encounter and dialogue with the other – the sick from AIDS in Bangkok, the homeless of San Francisco, the nomads of Florence, the Indians of the Amazon forests, the youth of Marrakech – in order to offer significant responses to the men and women of our times.
The presentation to the press will be held in the “Sala degli Arazzi”, headquarters of RAI (Radio Televisione Italiana), Rome, on Friday 3rd of June 2005. Taking part on that occasion will be: the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, Card. Crescenzio Sepe, Br. José Rodríguez Carballo, Minister General of the Friars Minor, and the Director of RAI, Dr. Romeo, responsible for the Social Secretariat of the television company.
