Chapter of the Province of Saint Paul the Apostle in Colombia

22 January 2025The Chapter of the Province of Saint Paul the Apostle took place in Colombia from the 13th to the 18th of January, 2025. The capitular Friars gathered with Br. Jaime Campos Fonseca, OFM, Visitator General, to reflect together on the Colombian social and ecclesial reality, on the challenges of the Province with regard to JPIC, Formation & Studies, Mission & Evangelization, and to renew and approve the Provincial Statutes.
Br. Richard Paul Cortés López, OFM was elected the new Provincial Minister. Originally from Esmeralda, Ecuador, he made his first profession of vows on January 9, 2006, and solemn profession on January 16, 2011. He was ordained a priest December 18, 2012. He has always fulfilled his various Provincial duties with great love and dedication.
Br. Ernesto Valladares Osorio, OFM was elected Vicar Provincial. Born in Quibdó – Chocó, he made his first vows on January 19, 1986 in Caicedonia – Valle del Cauca, and his solemn profession on January 16, 1991 at Manizales – Caldas. He was ordained a priest on November 10, 2001.
The newly elected Provincial Definators are: Br. Alirio Martínez Peñarete, OFM, Br. Juan Bautista Angulo Castillo, OFM, Br. Jhon Elisander Ortiz González, OFM, and Br. Diego Gustavo Paniagua Saucedo, OFM.
