From March 3 to 6, 2026, the OFM Permanent International Commission for Safeguarding met in Malta. During this meeting, they discussed the status of Safeguarding Policies and Procedures in the various regions of the Order, the integration of Safeguarding into the revised Ratio Formationis Franciscanae, and proposed revisions to the General Statutes regarding Safeguarding.
Furthermore, at the Provincial House in Valletta, the Commission met with Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta and one of the Church’s leading experts on Safeguarding. During a thoughtful exchange on some current Safeguarding issues, the Commission received encouragement from Archbishop Scicluna for its work.
