From 15th to 17th March in Assisi took place place the Assembly of Secular Franciscan Order (OFS) of Italy, the third and final journey towards the election of the New International Council which will take place during the chapter from 2nd to 5th May in 2024.
It is a journey which under the theme “ The courage of dreaming together: A fruitful fraternity” which in these last meeting affirmed itself over the capacity of taking care of oneself: an attitude, the posture of certain life that is familiar to the franciscans of all the time. Lucas Piras the President of OFS in Italy explained that, «It is a behavior which we need to underline not only as taking care of others but also taking care of ourselves in the whole process».
On 16th March the assembly received Andrew Gollini, the Diocesan Director for Caritas in Reggio Emilia-Guastalla. He his in charge of the school and catechetical office in the Diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone. Thereafter, followed a workshop on possible criteria for constructing a future project and in the evening the moment of “restitution” was carried out by the national councilors who are completing their mandate. Finally, on Sunday morning the assembly looked at the chapter dimension of election in may by working on the useful criteria of discernment so as to identify the persons who will be able to be elected at the service of animation the national fraternity for the next three years.
