For the Order of the Friars Minor (OFM) the gathering of this data has been prepared by the Postulator General. He has conducted this survey in February of 1996 on a worldwide level with the following results. These responses have come from 34 of the 128 Provinces of the Order. Of entities or nations in which one assumes that there have been martyrs in this century, the following have not responded: Albania, China, Israel (Holy Land), Lithuania, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Vietnam. The are reports of about 342 Friars Minors killed "in odium Fidei" in the various parts of the globe.

Pope Pius XII has beatified eight martyrs on the 24 November 1946. 45 other Martyrs have either had the "super Martyrio" canonical inquiry (process) begun by the competent ecclesiastical Tribunals or their Cause is being studied by the Congregation for the Cause of the Saints. The "Positio super Martyrio" for 36 of the Spanish Martyrs has already been readied and presented to the Congregation for the Cause of the Saints. The Theological Consulters or Cardinals and Bishops will be called upon to express their vote or judgement upon the "Positio"
