The Minister General of the Order of Friars Minor, Br. Massimo Fusarelli, currently visiting the Holy Land, sent a letter today, 12 October 2026, to Pope Leo XIV, expressing, also on behalf of the entire Order, the filial closeness of the Friars Minor and their most sincere wishes for his swift and full recovery.
During the solemn Eucharistic celebration at the Holy Sepulchre on the morning of 12 October, the Minister General, the General Definitory, the Custos of the Holy Land and his Discretorium, together with many friars, faithful and pilgrims, prayed for this intention.
In his letter, the Minister General assured the Holy Father of his prayers and those of his brothers, entrusting his person and his ministry in the service of the universal Church to the Risen Lord.
The Minister General invites all Friars Minor to join in prayer for the Holy Father, asking the Lord to grant him health, strength and serenity, and entrusting him to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Francis of Assisi.
